Hubsessed Office Hours: Reporting and Dashboards
Push back on what a report was not built for
Chris Carolan · Wednesday, October 14, 2026
Someone asks for a PDF out of HubSpot, and the pull is to build exactly that one PDF. I'd rather we push back whenever the ask is to use reports and dashboards for something they weren't designed to do. We've been taught to ask what you're trying to get done and build for that problem. That's right. PDFs are the odd one: so many other systems have a save as PDF wherever you want it, and it's never been built into HubSpot. So the moment you solve the first one, people ask for it everywhere else, and the answer is no, because we built it very specifically for that one process. This came out of a question Zach Hussion brought to the session. If you're the one holding that question, this is how I'd think about it before you build. Where has a one-off request turned into a request for everywhere? October sessions are free; all you need is a free Hubsessed subscription.
