Bring outside data into HubSpot reports

Joshua Oakes · Wednesday, October 14, 2026

A report can only show what's in HubSpot, and some of what you need to report on lives somewhere else. Data Studio gives you a lot of ability to adapt. I've been pushing the limits a bit. Joining outside data sources with HubSpot data is where the joins start to struggle. Two things help. Bring in data from outside sources: if you can get it to a Google Sheet, you can get it into HubSpot as a low bar, and you can get fancier with customer data platforms and bigger systems. And create a data set from HubSpot data, with filters, only the properties you want, renamed columns to match internal terminology, and formulas and calculations on top. That makes a lot of cohort style reporting possible that you can't do as effectively with native tools. If one team calls a record a prospect and another calls the same kind of record an opportunity, you don't have to go through object renames. You count prospects and opportunities in the data set. What outside data would you bring into a report first? October sessions are free; all you need is a free Hubsessed subscription. Replay clip from Hubsessed Office Hours: Reporting and Dashboards.
