Any excuse to color code a dashboard
Madelyn Donovan · Thursday, October 8, 2026
I'll be honest, I love any excuse to color code a dashboard. It's not just because of the colors. Obviously the colors are fun and pretty. It's more about categorizing. Visual person here, trying to organize what we're looking at so it doesn't cause even more overwhelm. Especially when there's a high level report and you want to drill down into certain categories. For one client, certain pipelines or certain objects get certain colors. Then when I drill down into them, I put that same record type in the same color, so they can connect the dots. What would a color mean on your dashboard if you picked one on purpose? Replay clip from Hubsessed Office Hours: Reporting and Dashboards. Joshua Oakes and I hosted as equals.
