Why handoffs suck

Chris Carolan · Thursday, October 22, 2026

The handoffs that go well are the ones where the people delivering were part of the sale before it closed. Where I come from in industrial manufacturing, the same resources that need to deliver are required in the sales process. In the HubSpot world that's the pre-sales team: they know the product, they're not responsible for selling it, they're responsible for solutioning it. When that happens up front, the people delivering aren't given context out of nowhere. When it doesn't, there's almost always an internal handoff call where nobody knows what happened before, and "hopefully, it's in the system." That's why the experience sucks, because of course the customer has to repeat themselves. If your customers repeat themselves after they sign, this clip shows you where to look in the system. Who is in the room before your deals close, and who ends up delivering them? October sessions are free; all you need is a free Hubsessed subscription.
