How do brilliant minds collaborate? Proximity
Chris Carolan · Friday, October 23, 2026
How do we get a lot of brilliant people to actually collaborate? Sharoze Iftikhar asked it in the room. He asked: "How do we make all of these amazing brilliant minds collaborate?" My answer so far is that it's turning out to be a slow and steady, access before action kind of thing. I'm creating a space where people usually don't understand how many others are doing the same thing they're doing and having the same challenges, and it creates the proximity that makes it harder not to see that. It's like how I introduce Breeze (HubSpot's built-in AI) to folks: I'm just showing it on screen as much as possible without saying it's the answer. Until people have that experience, it's hard to even talk to each other about your own siloed experience, until we're in a meetup and you hear everybody else having these issues or these wins. Ultimately I think there's a level of complexity that we should not even try as humans to manage ourselves. It comes from a place of trust with other humans: give yourself permission to not know how everything works all the time if you're going to be accountable for that process. You get a low-pressure way to start: bring people into proximity and show it, without calling it the answer. Who could you put in the same room this month who has no idea the others are working on the same thing? The live room is where membership leads, and replays stay open to anyone who signs in to Hubsessed. Replay clip from Hubsessed Office Hours: HubSpot Super Admin. George B.
