Give yourself permission not to know how everything works

Chris Carolan · Friday, October 23, 2026

How much of a system do you have to understand to be accountable for it? Sharoze Iftikhar asked how we get a room full of brilliant people to collaborate. Part of my answer: it's hard to even talk to each other about your own siloed experience until we're in a meetup and you hear everybody else having these issues or these wins. Ultimately I think there's a level of complexity that we should not even try as humans to manage ourselves. It comes from a place of trust with other humans: give yourself permission to not know how everything works all the time if you're going to be accountable for that process. You get a reason to trust other humans with the complexity you can't hold alone, and still be accountable. Where in your work are you trying to hold more than one person can? The live room is where membership leads, and replays stay open to anyone who signs in to Hubsessed. Replay clip from Hubsessed Office Hours: HubSpot Super Admin. George B.
