When contracts come into play
Chris Carolan · Sunday, October 11, 2026
Once you need to know the payment status and the fulfillment status of the thing, that's where contracts come into play. A company record lets you easily see the list of deals against it. It starts to matter more when there's a fulfillment activity you need to keep track of. Especially when one part is a one time thing and another is ongoing, you've delivered half of this part, and different processes are owned by different teams that need their own objects. We still need a place to understand exactly what's happening, contract wide. There's a whole change order mechanism behind it too. If we agreed on something at the beginning of the year and you want to go up or down or add, it's not a new deal. A lot of reps I know would not want to go delete something based on changes. It's easier to do the updated quote and have an audit trail. That audit trail gives people the reporting they want without messing with the original promise: plus 200 happened on this date at this time, and the MRR and ARR show what they need to show. When does the company record stop telling your team where things stand? Replay clip from Hubsessed Office Hours: HubSpot Super Admin. George B. Thomas and I hosted as equals.
