Three deliverables, one earn date

Chris Carolan · Sunday, October 11, 2026

Say we sell a $150,000 installation, and we don't get to invoice it until the end: it's installed, everybody's trained, and you've checked off warranty. That was the original reason for the deliverable object, back when George B. Thomas and I first started talking about this. Usually it all goes on line items, and everybody puts way too much detail there because there's nowhere else to put it. Imagine three deliverables, or project records, in HubSpot. One for training, one for installation, one for warranty activation, often owned by three different folks. Right now they all have their own, and they don't care about earn date. But with those objects and that data model, whenever they close a project as done, the earn date happens on the line item where it needs to, and now everybody knows. What's sitting in your line item details that really wants a record of its own? Replay clip from Hubsessed Office Hours: HubSpot Super Admin. George B. Thomas and I hosted as equals.
