Stamp the earned date, don't type it

Chris Carolan · Sunday, October 11, 2026

Whatever process decides you've earned it should be what stamps the earned date. Nobody should be typing earned dates in. Booked, billed and collected already get dates stamped on line items tied to contracts and orders. Earned is the one the HubSpot team is trying to figure out right now. What I asked for is just give me the property. The closest they can get right now is starting to associate contracts, orders and projects, because earned could be as simple as: did the project get delivered? That matters as you go through the year. A customer has agreed to spend this much money with us. How much have they actually spent, based on what we've shipped them and what they've confirmed receiving? As long as the people who own the deliverables process can say yes, it shipped on this date, the earned date can be stamped on a line item around contracts. Everybody has their own process. Whatever yours is, it needs to be connected to that property. What's the process in your business that says the work actually happened? Replay clip from Hubsessed Office Hours: HubSpot Super Admin.
